The regulatory landscape
is changing
The past decade has seen a monumental shift in the influence of environmental law and the importance of sustainable development and a circular economy. As governments around the world come under increasing pressure to respond to climate concerns, what was once an afterthought is now at the forefront of legislative agendas.
Across Australia, the trend towards tighter regulation is being felt – and the trajectory is set to continue. Smart use of water, energy, waste, emissions and land is critical to the success of any infrastructure or development project. Rapid change and growth in sustainability also creates unique opportunities for those given the right advice.
We’ve worked inside government
Our team is led by Ross Fox, an Accredited Specialist in Planning and Environment Law. As a past senior advisor to some of the most influential environmental authorities in government, including the NSW EPA, he is uniquely placed to ensure that his clients keep in step with this rapidly evolving area of law.
Routinely consulted by businesses and industry groups across the waste, resource recovery, property development and agricultural industries, we draw upon our direct experience with regulators to deliver project solutions with a financial, strategic and commercial edge.
We’re exclusive industry advisors
Because we work in industry, we understand the pressures and concerns facing those seeking to create, innovate and transform within their niche. We act as exclusive advisors to some of the leading players in the waste and resource recovery industry, including the Waste Contractors and Recyclers Association (WCRA) and the Australian Organics Recycling Association (AORA).
Our advice covers the full lifecycle of the planning process, from infrastructure and facility approvals to joint ventures and major local government tenders. With particular expertise in new and innovative technologies, we help clients expand the boundaries of what can be achieved within their sector.
Frequently engaged to act in negotiations with state and federal government agencies, we regularly appear in the Land and Environment Court in relation to regulatory and planning matters, ranging from complex planning proposals to disputes over land use and climate change.
